This evening we were educated and entertained by James Long of the wine merchants Corney and Barrow. After some basic instruction on the intricasies of tasting, James talked us through the wines, describing their origins, method of production and key characteristics, accompanied by some amusing anecdotes.
The tasting began with a very light effervescent Blanc de Blancs, followed by an unoaked Chardonnay, a St Emilion and a Rioja. Needless to say the wines were consumed with pleasure along with an enjoyable meal from the Hall Farm kitchen. The desert course was accompanied with a delicate sweet Sauternes, which by James' admission was probably not the ideal match for sticky toffee pudding!
We enjoyed trying some excellent wines in a convivial atmosphere amongst friends. The photos speak for themselves!
