A report on a litter pick as our contribution to National Spring Clean day.

23.03.15   SPRING CLEAN

Our support for the National Spring Clean day was to participate in the local campaign and carry out a litter pick.

Seven Rotarians gathered in the car  park (near the tennis courts) on Barratt's recreation ground on the first day of Spring 21st March. Unfortunately it was not very spring like being  very cold with a biting wind.

The Rotarians organised themselves into groups and set off to pick litter ,unfortunately we did not have the handy circular bags holders so it was difficult to put litter into them!

John Tuke swept the car park in front of the tennis courts,(mainly cigarette ends) whilst John Durham gathered litter from the car park of  Scartho Rd Swimming Baths .Litter was collected from the hedge alongside Landsdowne Av and along the footpath from Scartho Rd to the School Academy.

Items of interest found on the litter pick;

3 rubber builders buckets.

2 rusty galvanised builders buckets.

and observed many empty Malteser cartons inside the tennis courts!

The task was completed by 21 15 pm,a job very well done.

Thank you to Di Tuke for the photographs.
