20.03.15 CHARTER NIGHT
The 84th Charter Anniversary Dinner was held on Wednesday 18th March at the Humber Royal Hotel.
Guests were welcomed by President Ian Birrell and in particular members representing other Rotary Clubs. The Rotary International and Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland toast was proposed by Vice President
Mike Quickfall.
The response to this toast was by District Governor Wendy Watson from the Mexborough and District Club.In her speech, Wendy praised the club for its work with youth and in particular the support given by president Ian to the Motor youth project . Also reference was made to our continuing support to Shelter Box.
After the meal we were entertained by Judith Hibbert, billed as a stunning musical presentation of vintage fun "Around the Wireless". Judith has worked extensively in TV,theatre, musicals, cabaret and pantomime. We were not to be disappointed.
The programme was a mixture of songs ,monologues ,sketches and banter with the audience. We were treated to songs by Julie Andrews ,Joyce Grenfell ,Gracie Fields and others . There was a lively atmosphere with people joining in the singing and there was lots of laughter. A good entertainment .
