NOHARI HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT.
A project to install a water supply and distribution system at Nohari High School at Garhbeta (Paschim Medinipur) India has just been completed as a result of joint working between Grimsby Rotary and the Rotary Club of Salt Lake Central (India).
One of our members, Past President Som Roy, has a brother in the Rotary Club of Salt Lake and through this connection we have been able to contribute funding to develop a number of projects in that area of India.
In the past we have used matching grants for the installation of tube wells in India. However, since Som joined the club we have been able to develop closer working relationships in India.A good example, was the development of a toilet block at a busy International Bus Station, which did not have toilet facilities, and this was achieved through a matching grant.Som attended the official opening of the toilet block.
Several years ago we received a request to help in equipping science laboratories ( Physics,Chemistry,Biology and Geography) at the Nohari High School. This will be of benefit to over 12,000 potential pupils.
The new project involved the drilling of a deep bore well, roof water storage tank, installation of water pipes and a filter system(aqua guard) providing children with a clean source of water.A plaque has been erected in the school to commemorate the installation of a clean water supply.
