GOLF KNOCKOUT COMPETITION.
A report by past President Stuart Falconer.
For those golfers in the club,we have held a knockout match play competition during the summer months for over 10 years.
This last year (2011) we had 29 member enter. For those players that lose in the first round they play, they become eligible for The Plate Competition, which is run on the same basis and gives all players a longer interest in the competition. The competition seems popular in that it can bring players into contact with other members with whom they would not normally play,or even know well in the club,as well as playing on different courses.
Derek Andrews lost to Roger Cropp, and Richard Gibbon lost to Som Roy in the semi finals . In a very close final Som retained the trophy.Playing off a handicap of 10- he is a hard man to beat.
In The Plate Competition Tony Powell lost to Stewart Wilson, and Chris Oldridge lost to Nigel Frow in the semi
