The Twenty-seventh Annual District 1270 Conference was held in York,23rd to 25th September.The main headquarters hotel was the Park Inn.An evening dinner on Friday was held in the National Railway Museum and this was followed by a live band.On Saturday the dinner was held at the Race Course and again there was live entertainment.
President Nigel said"Eleven couples from the Club enjoyed an excellent weekend in York from 23rd to 25th September. We dined and partied for two nights amongst the trains at the National Railway Museum and at York Racecourse, two excellent venues.Many enjoyed the sights and sounds of the City of York,some even found the shops.
The conference itself had nearly 600 attendees this year and covered many areas from rowing the Atlantic to an excellent speech from an ex-London policemen and now Rotary GB&I President Ray Burman.We learnt about the usual Rotary projects and ideas for the future,including a full relaunch of Foundation in 2013.Trade boxes to run alongside shelter boxes particularly interested me.
Polo Plus target 2012 remains a big target,along with pushing more sustainable projects,hands on projects and grappling with the increasing problems of membership numbers and environmental issues.
