David says:
I joined the Rotary Club as a result of meeting David McClelland at the Carers + Café, through this connection I became keen to join the club and contribute more actively to the local community.
I began my career as a Student Apprentice at Willington Power Station on 2 September 1974, I attended Burton College & University of Derby between 1975 to 1980. Whereafter I moved to Rugeley Power Stations working initially as a short/long term Planning Engineer, I subsequently moved into Production Depts as a Safety & Control Engineer, thereafter promoted to Shift Manager. My responsibilities also included overseeing Departmental Training, managing the station’s “Black Start” capability, rewriting site plant details book and overseeing major coal & ash contracts.
I retired in September 2015 after 41 yrs of service in the power generation industry
I’m married to Sue and have two sons, three grandchildren and one great grandchild
My interests include family tree research, gardening, walking & cruise holidays
