Laptops for children in Ukraine

Burton Rotary Club provided funds for eight laptops which were delivered today to children in the village of Asiivka, located in the Balakliya community of the Kharkiv region.

Following a donation from this Rotary Club, this message was received by President Peter from Yulia Pavichenko, President of RC Ukraine Sunrise:

I’m writing to share a short update and express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support.

Thanks to your generous donation, eight laptops were delivered today to children in the village of Asiivka, located in the Balakliya community of the Kharkiv region. This rural area suffered severe destruction during the war, and the local school is no longer functioning. As a result, all children here study exclusively online, often with only a single parent smartphone shared among several siblings in large families.

For most of these children this is their first personal learning device. Access to a laptop means the ability to join classes, complete homework, and stay connected with the world beyond the village.

Importantly, this delivery is part of a broader vision we’re developing together. Two teenage girls from Asiivka — pictured in the photos — will now also take part in our upcoming Space of Peace project, which includes youth training, bookcrossing zones, and creative engagement for younger children. It is a great joy that your club has already contributed to this next step for training, and we are deeply thankful.

Together, your support is not only bringing education to children in need. It is helping them grow as leaders, readers, and rebuilders of their communities.

Please say a warm greetings to all brothers and sisters from your Rotary Club Burton upon Trent. Tomorrow we will publish a new post about our project on the Facebook page.

With warm regards and deep appreciation,
