Latest update on the progress of making Burton railway station a welcoming environment.

The Rotary Station Team at work

Burton-upon-Trent Rotary Club 'Adopted Burton Station' in 2017 and have created a more colourful and welcoming place.
We have 18 Station Volunteers and this morning 11 turned up to deal with 48 large bags of decorative bark to top up the wood chips on the area between the platforms. We knew that was not nearly enough for the whole area but found three things out.
Even large amounts of bark don't go far on such a large area.
We need another three or four deliveries to finish the job.
It is an easier job than we thought.
Over the next few weeks we will have other work parties to continue and finish this job.
At the end of May/early June we will attend to the eight 40ft troughs and 12 tubs to remove the daffodil foliage and any weak plants and replant as necessary. We then have a rota to water and tend the plants on a weekly basis throughout the summer
Although all of our Volunteers are Rotary members this is not a condition to becoming a Volunteer. Anyone who is interested in joining us please contact Hugh Clarke on 07986 090574 for more information.
