Recognising the charitable work of Dolly Parton

Club members gave thanks for the life and work of Dolly Parton with applause on an early September meeting.
Dolly Parton was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow at the RI convention in Montreal in 2010 for the charitable work she was doing as well as being a famous singer.
Before she was "the Book Lady" to millions of children, Dolly Parton believed every child deserved the chance to fall in love with reading.
Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she collaborated with Rotary to expand access to books and support young readers, one story at a time. There is an Imagination Library in Nottingham supported by the Rotary Club on Nottingham.
Dolly, thank you for reminding us that literacy opens doors. Your generosity and optimism will inspire generations to come
