Paperchain link between HUMBER BRIDGE TOWERS to send Lifestraws to children in Colombia

On Saturday, 6^th June, members of the Barton Youth Centre have been sponsored to link the two Humber Bridge Towers with a long paper chain so that they can send Rotary Lifestraws to a remote area in Colombia. 

The members of the youth club wanted to thank the Rotary Club of Barton Upon Humber for their trip to Eden Camp which could not have taken place without their financial support.  Project Youth Worker, Pat Sutch explained "Barton Rotary Club has always helped the Barton Youth Centre by giving money for special events and trips that we have done.  Every year we do something for charity so this year we thought we would return the favour and help to do something for them"  

Members of the Rotary Club of Barton Upon Humber visited the Youth Club to talk about Lifestraws and how they help to save the lives of people in areas where there is little or no clean drinking water.  They were inspired by the fact that many of those who die are children and wanted to help.

The Lifestraws have been sent to a small remote community in Campo Hermoso, which is on the Venezuela border approximately 2 hours from City of Cucuta.  Rotarian Stuart Leyland who delivered the Lifestraws on behalf of the Barton Youth Club said "It is a very poor area where the water is badly contaminated and they do not have very much as their parents scratch a living. I gave out Lifestraws one by one and erected a family filter
