Barry Picken, a Wednesfield Rotarian was presented with an MBE at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, 5 March 2020 by Prince Charles. He received the MBE for services to the community of Wolverhampton and the West Midlands. Barry was accompanied to the Palace by his wife, Jenny and son and daughter, James and Hannah.
Barry
joined the Club in 1976 and is a key member in organising the Father Christmas
sleigh collection each year which has raised over £200,000 pounds for charities
and good causes.
He
is a former chairman of the health service in Wolverhampton and recently stood
down as chairman of the City of Wolverhampton College.
Barry
is also a Trustee of the Breast Cancer Action Group and is actively involved in
the restoration of the war memorial in Tettenhall.
Barry said "It was an enormous honour to receive an MBE and I am very proud of the work and what Rotary has achieved in Wednesfield, the City and the West Midlands."
