Competitions are organised for musicians, photographers, writers, public speakers, artists and chefs


Annual Youth Competitions

Young Artist

Young Chef(11-17 yrs):  Cooking amongst young people is a valuable life skill.  The competition aims to encourage the development of these skills.  Participants prepare and present a two course meal within a pre-set budget and time limit.

Young Musician(up to 17 yrs):  Music is an international language and Rotary encourages talented young people by providing an opportunity to demonstrate their musical skills.

Young Photographer(Junior 7-10 yrs;  Intermediate 11-13 yrs;  Senior 14-17 yrs):  Photography is a talent and an ever popular art form.  The competition helps to develop photographic skills.

Youth Speaks (Intermediate 11-13 yrs;  Senior 14-17 yrs):  Public speaking and presentation skills are valuable life skills.  Teams of three prepare and deliver a short talk on a topic decided by themselves.  One of the team acts as a chairperson, one delivers the talk and the other members offers a vote of thanks.

Technology Tournaments (11-18 yrs):  Teams of four young people interested in engineering and science compete in a one day event to devise and build a solution to a previously unseen technical task.  Solutions are tested and judged.

Young Writer(Junior 7-10 yrs;  Intermediate 11-13 yrs;  Senior 14-17 yrs):  A flair for creative writing is a special gift and this competition promotes and encourages young people to develop their skills.
