Rotary Opportunities for Young People
The work of Rotary begins in the community. Members of the Rotary Club of The Wrekin have experience and skills which places it in an ideal position to provide opportunities for young people in the Telford & Wrekin area. Often this is done in partnership with local youth organisations, schools and colleges.
Rotary offers some special programmes and also chances for young people to participate in youth competitions. These are summarised below.

Special Programmes
Interact Clubs(12-18 yrs): Clubs are supported and guided by the Rotary Club. Interact club members decide activities they would like to do to help communities at home or abroad. These activities can count towards volunteering sections of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
International Camps & Tours (15-25 yrs): Participants can broaden their minds and horizons by camping in the wilderness or engaging in a cultural tour abroad.
New Generations Service Exchange (18-30 yrs): This is a volunteering programme which provides opportunities for young people to undertake placements across the world or in their home country lasting anything from three weeks to six months. Placements may give a vocational experience or provide humanitarian service.
RotaKids Clubs(7-12 yrs): Clubs are often based in primary schools. The RotaKids decide the activities they would like to do which will make a difference in their own community or those abroad. The Rotary Club works with teachers to help the RotaKids implement their ideas.
Rotaract Club(18-30 yrs): This is an international service organisation with members in 170 countries. Each club is autonomous and organises its own activities eg social, fundraising or helping in the local community.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards(16-18 yrs): This is a five-day development course held in the local area which provides an adventurous training programme for young leaders and potential leaders.
Young Citizen Awards(groups or individuals under 25 yrs): These showcase the citizenship and responsibilities demonstrated by young people through their community activities.
Youth International Exchanges(15 -25 yrs): Short term (generally two weeks) staying in an exchange partners home. Long Term (for an academic year) attending a school or college and staying with host families.
