Disability Sports and Swimming Gala 2017

The year is rushing on and the date is now set for the 2017 event.

Saturday 8th July at Wrekin College Sports Hall in Wellington, Telford.  We look forward to seeing you then either as a participant or volunteer.  Please contact Anne DeVere or Sue Harris who will be organising this fantastic event.

Saturday 9th July 2016 saw volunteers gathering on a rain soaked car park outside the Sports Hall Wrekin College.  By 10am games, including short mat bowls, table tennis and football goal shooting to name but a few were set up and ready for the competitors to tackle.  The competitors came independently and through Club 2000 and swimmers from Cheslyn Hay to join in the fun.

After lunch the swimmers took part in the Gala and the non-swimmers took part other "Have-a-Go" events set up outside and in the sports hall - it had stopped raining by this time with the sun even making an appearance later on.

Medals were handed out to all those placed first, second and third place in all events. District Governor John Sayer, who had volunteered all day, and the Mayor of Telford Rae Evans handed out the awards.

Thanks go to Rotarians Sue Harris and Anne DeVere who organised the day.
