On 3rd April 2018, Rotary Club of Rugeley became the first Rotary Club in Rotary GB&I to take on the management of a Community Library. The Library in Brereton near Rugeley provides a valuable service to the local community. In partnership with Staffordshire County Council, the club will deliver a full library service with access to the entire Staffordshire Libraries book stock as well as free access to the internet.
The clubs responsibility is not only to deliver the County Library Service, but also to sexpand the library by offering other facilities and services outside of the normal library service.
Since taking over the management of the library, the club have created additional space by raising fund for an all year round marquee in the enclosed courtyard. This is used for meetings, displays and special events. Additional services have also been added such as a jig saw library; weekly health awareness classes and the library is now an official Place of Welcome where anyone can come during opening hurs for free refreshments and a chat.
The library also serves as the informal meeting place for our satellite group where existing members, prospective members or anyone with an interest can come along to join in with any of the clubs many projects . They are lso welcome to bring their young family members with them
