On Monday 14th May 2012, a group of members along with family and friends followed a long and winding road near Abbotts Bromley to the remote Freedom Brewery. Few of us were aware that on our doorstep was a thriving micro brewery producing 750,000 litres per annum of specialised lagers and stouts. The location was chosen because of an onsite bore hole leading to an underground supply of genuine "Burton" type water which remains 100% natural when used in the production. Ed Mayman, one of the owners, gave us a fascinating insight into the skills of brewing these special beers over nearly two weeks versus the 3 days that it takes to make high volume commercial beers. The tour of the facility was followed by the inevitable sampling of the product accompanied by a very enjoyable buffet supper. The track back to the main road seemed a lot more winding on the way back.
One member was most concerned about this leaking fermentation tank.
