Focus on the crocus
Planting crocus bulbs in Rugeley to support the campaign to end polio
In recent years, members of the Rotary Club of Rugeley have planted purple crocus bulbs around the town. Of course, this brightens up the town each spring, but, it also serves to help raise awareness of the world wide campaign to eliminate polio.
Why were purple bulbs chosen?
Well, when children are immunised, they often dip their liitle finger in purple ink so that the medical teams know who has and who has not received their vaccination.
Rotary International has been working tirelessly to eradicate polio. There are now only a few countries left where polio is still a problem. More about the End Polio Now Campaign can be found on the the Rotary Foundation section of our web site or on the Thanks for Life page
