Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships
Provide a flat grant of US$27,000 for one academic year of study in another country.
District 1210, covering Shropshire, Staffordshire and parts of the West Midlands (the Black Country"), welcomes applications for these scholarships usually awarding one in each academic year. An application has to be made through and with the sponsorship of one of the individual Rotary clubs in a district.
These awards are intended to help defray costs associated with round-trip transportation, tuition and other fees, room and board, and some educational supplies. Rotary districts select scholars in recognition of their outstanding qualifications and potential as an ambassador of goodwill.
The purpose of the scholarship is to promote international understanding and goodwill through study in another country. Scholars expected to serve as Rotary's ambassador of goodwill while maintaining high standards of academic achievement.
The Rotary Foundation (the charitable arm of Rotary International) challenges those chosen as an Ambassadorial Scholars to live up to Rotary International's motto of Service Above Self.
Programme Objectives
The Ambassadorial Scholarships programme furthers the Rotary Foundation's mission of improving health, supporting education, and alleviating poverty. The Foundation Trustees have established programme objectives and have asked Rotarians to select candidates who will best support these objectives and the Foundation's mission.
