Tree of Light

The Tree of Light stands in the Morrisons' store in Aldridge. Lights on the tree can be sponsored to remember our loved ones at this special time of the year. This is a major fundraiser for the club and helps us to support many projects.

TheTree of Light has been a main fundraiser for the Rotary Club for a few years now. With the support of Morrisons we are able to display dedications to loved ones on this special tree throughout the christmas period.

Members volunteer to support this project in a number of ways. A small team of members erect the tree towards the end of November and decorate it with lights and the first dedications. These are the words of families and friends remembering their loved ones - they are tied to the tree with ribbons and then a print out of the labels is shown on the store window, Rotary facebook pages and the club website. Throughout the festive season more dedications are regularly added as more and more people honour their loved ones. Each time a new dedication comes in a card bearing the message is added to the tree.

The tree is usually taken down between Christmas and New Year and again a volunteer group dismantle and recycle the tree.

Maybe you enjoy putting a tree up at Christmas, could help with printing the dedications or have some expertise or interest in website and social media - we all help in different ways.
