The Community Ranger at Westbury Town Council, David Krzyzosiak is putting together a project to establish an orchard in Vivash Park to commemorate her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd
The intention is to plant around 21 orchard and blossom trees in an area roughly the size of a tennis court within the boundary of Vivash park.
The Rotary Club of Westbury has been asked if they would be available to help with the planting?
The projected date of planting would be Tuesday 14th November and it is believed the majority of works could be completed in one day although anytime of support is welcome.
Rotary will supply support with the digging of holes, adding compost, placing the trees and backfilling the holes. The trees would be given reinforcing stakes and secured. The last job will be to water and mulch.
The orchard will benefit Vivash Park and serve as a fitting tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd
Although 5 members of Westbury Rotary turned up in "slightly inclement" weather to plant trees on the predug holes, the trees didn't arrive on time. David, the park ranger, took a very wise and well received decision to call a halt to proceedings for the day. We will endeavour to assist on another, less wet, day.
