The Rotary Club of Westbury has been active for 65 years
To celebrate this event the Club, under the auspices of President Elizabeth Webbe and Treasurer David Pike, organised a meet and greet event in the Grand Hall of Heywood House near Westbury.
65th Anniversary for Rotary Club of Westbury
The Rotary Club of Westbury has celebrated a significant milestone of 65 years serving the local community and charitable schemes world-wide.
The remarkable occasion was marked with an evening in a local landmark, Heywood House. Over 60 people attended the evening, all by invitation. There were speeches from the Westbury Rotary President Elizabeth Webbe, Rotary District Governor Stuart Gilbert, Westbury’s Mayor Mike Sutton, District AG David Perkins, Charlotte Clark from Youth Adventure Trust and Ian Harryman from the Avon Valley Runners.
Rotary club of Westbury have been pillars of the local community and are looking forward to a bright future carrying on that tradition. Rotary are people of action from all walks of life and are ready to tackle challenges at home and abroad. They volunteer their time and expertise to support those that need it and try to enhance lives.
Some of their local achievements have been supporting; Christmas Carol concerts, Youth Adventure Trust, Kids Out, Trowbridge Park Run, sponsored Snowdon ascent, Westbury Music and Arts Festival, White Horse cleaning, RNIB fundraising, Julian House, Dorothy House Westbury food bank, Crosspoint, White Horse Day Centre at Grassacres and riding the longest bicycle in the world!
Internationally Rotary have supported; Polio eradication, Water Survival boxes, Water wells in Africa, rebuilding schools in Nepal and many other projects.
Future projects for the Rotary Club of Westbury include Kids Out, Imber Ultra Marathon, International Cuisine Evening, Youth Adventure Trust, Polio eradication and many more
The evening was a great success with members of Rotary acquainting themselves with the invited gusts and celebrating the work that Rotary does.
Wine and soft drinks were supplied by Rotarian Martin Holborrow and nibbles were prepared and served by members of the Inner Wheel of Westbury
