Wells Rotary talk on the Nepal Trust

Wells Rotary Club invited members of all District 1200 clubs to attend the talk.  The President and Vice President of Rotary Club of Westbury attended.

The Nepal Trust was founded in 1993 by Scottish businessman and ex British-Indian Army Major, Alan Jacobsen.  He has served alongside Nepalese Ghurkhas in WW2

The Nepal Trust is a registered Scottish Charity and NGO in Nepal.  The Trust has offices in Scotland, Kathmandu and in Simkot which is an area in Nepal.

They work in one of the most impoverished and remote areas of human habitation in the world including the river Kamali River zone of North West Nepal.

They are a grass roots cost effective organisation dedicated to supporting the Nepalese people by working with them on sustainable community projects in the areas of health, sustainable tourism, agriculture, water and sanitation as well as heritage preservation.

The Trust emphasises local participation and recognises the local people as the custodians of their communities.

The speaker concentrated his talk on the efforts by Rotary to aid and assist the local community by working with devolved local authorities in Nepal to make better the lives of the communities in areas such as Medical, Education and Sanitation.  Emphasis was put on the health care of young girls and their education.

It was an inspiring talk and enjoyed by all.
