The Rotary Club of Westbury instigated the project to clean the Iconic White Horse

Having taken the lead on the last clean and paint of the White Horse in 2012, the Rotary Club of Westbury was instrumental in bringing together the Westbury Town Council, English Heritage, and the Westbury Rugby Club all under the leadership of ex Rotarian Steve Carrington to take on he much needed cleaning of the Westbury White Horse.

Whilst the Town Council took financial responsibilty and the Westbury Rotarians and Inner Wheelers acted as stewards to mainatin a safe boundary around the working area, members of the Rugby Club dangled off ropes to steam clean the 'Old Grey Mare'.

The task was completed withing the two days allotted to ensure that the towns' emblem will be bright and shiney for the WW1 centenary celebrtations in November.

It is undrestood that negotiations are in hand with English Heritage to mount a proper repainting exercise next year.
