The organiser of the weekly Park Run at Southwick, Sean Price, asked the club to help purchase a new computer to record and analyse the results of each week's Park Run.
The weekly event has been going for 6 years, but the old computer was so laborious that the results took a considerable time to publish.
Westbury Rotary donated £200 towards a new computer. Other clubs and organisations also made donations which enabled Sean to get the new machine in good time.
President David was invited to start the run on 7th October. The organisation to coordinate and marshall the 250 or so runners, record their times and places and notify each individual of his or her results, is very well rehearsed.
The data is downloaded from the Time Keepers' stop watches and bar code readers in no time at all, and within 30 mins of the last runner finishing, each participant had been sent an email stating their place and time, the number of times they have taken part and recording any 'Personal Bests' (PBs). All stewards and helpers had also been sent a note of thanks.
All very impressive, and a marked change from the several hours of detailed work that had been needed previously.
Many participants made an effort to thank the Rotary Club of Westbury, through President David, for the generous donation that is helping so many people every week.
