Wells Festival of Running May 24th

Sun, May 24th 2026 at 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

In partnership with the Wells City Harriers, Wells Rotary is helping once again to organise and stage the Wells Festival of Running in 2026.

Wells Festival of Running May 24th

Previously known as the Wells Fun Run, this event will be held on Sunday May 24th and will see runners participating in a number of races that include a 10K and 5k road run, a 1.5K run around the city and an 8 and under race on the Cathedral Green.

Last year we saw over 600 entrants for the races, supported by family and friends. The races start in the beautiful Market Place under the gaze of two medieval gateways - the Penniless Porch and the Bishop’s Eye, and a fast and furious grandstand finish is guaranteed alongside the Bishop’s Palace moat.

There will be prizes available for both females and males, and in order of precedence, one per competitor plus team prizes (position of first three runners) will be awarded for the 10k. Adding to the festival atmosphere there will be a mix of craft, food and drink, and activity stalls on the Bishop’s Palace Green and in front of the Town Hall on the Market Square.

There will also be a ‘balloon raffle’ – your opportunity to have a ride in a hot air balloon later in the summer at a date to be agreed with the balloonists.

Money raised at the event and from the raffle after all costs will be used to support local Money raised at the event and from the raffle after all costs will be used to support local good causes with a focus on youth and health.

If you fancy joining in the adult races you can register at the Let’s Do This link below: registration for the 8 and under races is on the day at the Rotary registration desk by the Town Hall.
