Rockall is an uninhabitable granite islet situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, roughly 180 miles west of Scotland and 230 miles north of Ulster. It is about 25 metres wide and 31 metres long and rises sheer to a height of 17 metres. The only vaguely flat bit measures 3.5 by 1.2 metres and in stormy weather waves sometimes crash over the entire surface.
