Rosie Jones and Kate Hood sponsored by the Taunton Rotary Club in their visit to the USA

Rosie Jones and Kate Hood, both 18 years were sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Taunton, England and Taunton, Massachusetts, USA to take part in this long-standing exchange. Rosie and Kate stayed with Rotarian families and friends during their two week visit to Massachusetts.

Speaking at the recent Club lunch both described their experience as ‘amazing’ and really special. Staying with American families meant they could become immersed in American culture more than the average tourist. They were taken on many visits to the historic sights of Boston, Newport Island, Plymouth Rock and Martha’s Vineyard. During their stay they were able to experience the iconic 50th anniversary of the moon landing at Providence.

Most memorable were visits to Patriots' Place, an amusement and waterpark, a visit to a Buddhist Temple at well as rides on jet skis, a cook out and attending a traditional High School graduation party.

Kate is completing her final year at Richard Huish College whilst Rosie is taking a gap year after completing her ‘A’ levels, also at Richard Huish College.  Both thanked the Rotary Club of Taunton for giving them the opportunity to make the visit to the USA.

A visit they will never forget.
