Somerset Remembers

A Great Success - Featuring the Taunton Male Voice Choir, Eight to the Bar and West Somerset Brass Band this year's Royal British Legion's 100 years anniversary choral concert was a great success and a tribute to all those who served.

This year's Musical Tribute Concert was dedicated to all those who served in defence of our country. It was also an opportunity to recognise the centenary year of the Royal British Legion and play tribute to many workers and volunteers who went one step further in support of others during the Coronavirus pandemic.

This annual Choral Concert was once again led and  by Rotarian Ian Ramus with the help of other Rotary members, friends and families.

The concert included performances from the Taunton Male Voice Choir, West Somerset Brass Band, Eight to the Bar and the Club's very own Rotary Choir who were also joined by Luis Martello and his Jazz Band for a sing-a-long of popular tunes.

The Rotary Club of Taunton's very own choir performed publicly the Rotary Anthem written by Club member, Rotarian Nigel Moyle and young people from the uniformed cadets took part, scattering poppies, whilst President Elect, David Lewis recited the poem 'In Flanders Fields' by Lieutenant Colonel, John McCrae.

Our last concert raised over £2,500 in aid of the Club's charities which included the Royal British Legion and the Musgrove Park Hospital's League of Friends.

The Rotary Club of Taunton thanks all those who participated and supported the concert with their time and generous donations.
