The Rotary Club of Taunton welcomed two new members at the beginning of a new Rotary Year at the end of June. Former Taunton Mayors Martin Straus and Nick O'Donnell had so enjoyed their year as honorary Rotarians that they asked to become full members of the worldwide organisation. The club members then expressed their thanks to outgoing president, Adrian Prior-Sankey and the Chain of Office was handed to President Nigel Handbury, the 104th President of the club.
Nigel spoke in appreciation of the successful Rotary year which saw members supporting three charities (£2000 to The League of Friends of Musgrove Hospital, £2000 to ARK at Egwood and £1000 to The Rotary Foundation for its eradication of Polio project) and showcasing the talents of many local young people. Adrian was presented with his past president's medal and badge and wished Nigel every success in the year ahead.
