As part of a UK-wide fundaising cycling event linking Land's End to John o' Groats, our club arranged this unhurried cycle ride runs from Banchory to Westhill. Over 30 cyclists took part and raised over £4,000 for the Prostate Scotland charity. This was well ableve the ambitious £3,000 target that was set during planning.
The event was organised as a memorial to Bill Burr who was an enthusiastic and active member of our club for many years. He was also a very fit hill-walker, having climbed every Munro and many several times over. He was a keen cyclist and enjoyed the outdoors. Sadly, Bill died of prostate cancer a few months ago and the event is to celebrate Bill's memory whilst also raising funds for a charity devoted to fighting this very common and often terminal form of cancer.
