Helen explained that DCH has received a Government Development Grant of £160m to redevelop the Critical Care Unit but this will only over the ‘essentials’.
Poundbury RC has been asked to Lead on the fundraising for a mobile ventilator which would help both staff and patients. They are applying for a Rotary Global Grant of £30k to cover the cost of the ventilator, and have committed to raising £9k towards this amount. Any additional funds raised would be channeled to other areas in the Unit such as family rooms, an area for staff to ‘decompress’, etc.
It is hoped that the funds will be in place by the end of 2026. The Poundbury Club has already held two events to support this objective and there been a positive response to the appeal.
To reach a target of £9k is critical. If this is not achieved they would need to reapply for a reduced Global Grant.
There followed a brief discussion about the possibility of funds being made available from the Concert at Bridport United Church in April.
Following this, President Malcolm thanked Helen for her excellent presentation and invited her to stay for the remainder of the meeting, which she did.
