For many years our Business Partners have make generous donations to our Club which have gone mainly towards local youth projects and activities. The following are a few examples of who we helped in 2025.
Two Colfox students were sent on the Rotary Youth Leadership Award course, a type of Outward Bound course, held for a week in the Brecon Beacons.
Children from Mountjoy School in Beaminster thoroughly enjoyed attending the Kids Out Scheme at Crealy Theme Park in Devon.
We organised two Rotary Youth Speaks debating competitions for students. One for Primary Schools in Bridport and Burton Bradstock and the other for Senior Schools in Bridport and Beaminster.
We funded the Bridport Youth and Community Centre (BYCC) premises hire costs for other youth groups using the building. ASCape, whose mission is to provide supportive socialisation for Autistic and or socially anxious children. They used the premises to run a series of cooking classes. Our Club paid for the hire-charges and the ingredients for the sessions. As a result, two young persons organisations benefited.
We made a donation towards the new play equipment at the Wellplot Play Area in Loders.
Our pledge of £2,000 to the West Bay Beach Wheelchair Scheme was delivered and the new facilities were officially opened by the Mayor. This sum was a bequest from the Late Eddy Fry to our Club who was a loyal Club member and also one of our Business Partners.
Bernard Paull, Club President, said “I would like thank our Business Partners for making such a vital contribution to our fund raising. We are delighted to say that this increases our ability to support the local community particularly the many youth projects we become involved with.”
