Rotary Supports Budding Musical Theatre Star

Iris is presented with the cheque.

As part of its programme of supporting local gifted and talented  students, The Rotary Club of Bridport has supported a budding musical theatre star. Iris Stephens has been travelling to London every weekend to participate in the programme for young performers run by the West End Musical Theatre. She joined a group of talented young performers who came from all-over the country to learn the techniques of dance, singing and acting.

Iris worked with amazing West End professionals, performers, casting directors, agents, musical directors and theatre producers giving her invaluable lessons in the art of performing as well as taking part in three shows put on by the West End Musical Theatre.

She has recently been successful in auditions for the British Youth Music Theatre in London. Iris has also performed locally in the Adam’s family for Bridport Young Performers, ‘Choreography Geography’ and
‘Tapistory’ with Bridport Youth Dance and the Colfox play ‘We will rock you’.

Iris has just completed her GCSEs and intends to pursue a performing arts BTEC qualification in Bournemouth next year.

President Mike said "Iris clearly has both the drive and talent to turn her dreams of a future in the musical theatre into reality, for which all of us in Bridport Rotary wish for her a magical journey. WE are proud to have played a small part in helping her to achieve her ambition".
