A Rotarian Recognised

A Paul Harris Fellowship Saphire Award

President Peter presents the award to PP Bernard

All organisations need people who can juggle and turn their hand to many tasks, together with a willingness to say yes when asked to do a task! The Rotary Club of Bridport has many members who are all committed to the motto “Service Above Self”.

At the first meeting of the Club in September, at Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club, Past President Bernard Paull was recognised for his ongoing work in support of the Club and the wider community. He had previously been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF), named after the founder of Rotary, and at the meeting a sapphire endorsement was added to the previous award.

Bernard, a retired Chartered Civil Engineer, joined the Club in 2011 and has applied his skills and knowledge in a variety of ways for the Club. He was Secretary for four years, served as President on three occasions and has led the work on public image since 2023.

He recruited the current Club President, pictured presenting the award, and he received the PHF in 2019.

Additionally Bernard has authored publications about the village of Loders and about the highways, byways and bridges of Dorset. He is very much a man of service and of friendship.

Martin Whiting – Treasurer.
