John Miles is a member of Leatherhead RC and is a Trustee of Global Sight Solutions, originally known as The Guildford Rotary Eye Project, which serves the avoidably blind.
In addition to his work in helping to provide free eye care to the poor in India, Africa and elsewhere, John is also a speaker for Population Matters, which addresses the issues of an ever-growing human population.
Global Sight Solutions mission is to provide free eye care and eye surgery to the very poor in the developing world. It strives to make blindness history. The main focus is the setting up of Specialist Eye Hospitals in areas of need. Gl9obal Sight Solutions also invests in Eye Buses to transport patients to our clinics.
Because nearly all involved are volunteers or medical professionals sympathetic to the aims of Global Sight Solutions, a complete cataract operation service can be provided in India, Africa and other parts of the developing world for just £15.
Incredibly, grants can often be obtained which drives down the cost of provision to £5.
