Rotary Action Groups

Using and sharing your vocational skills

Would you like to use and share your vocational skills and other expertise to support others less fortunate in our local and international communities ?

You can do this via projects and events with your local Rotary Club, by joining as a Direct Member, by becoming a Friend of Rotary or becoming involved in a Rotary Action Group.

Rotary Action Groups are independent groups that are affiliated with Rotary, where each has a specific humanitarian focus.  The groups include Rotarians and friends of Rotary who have knowledge, experience, skills or an interest in the topic.  Action group members participate in service activities and use their expertise and global networks to facilitate sustainable change.

Rotarians in Cumbria & Lancashire are involved with the following Rotary Action Groups  :

Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) – They inspire and empower the Rotary Family with extensive expertise, networks, education and best practices to implement sustainable and impactful environmental projects.  There are regular online speaker meetings as well as a local group in Great Britain & Ireland along with a website with online resources, projects and latest news.  Worldwide projects include recycling, increasing the number of solar panels, pollinators and reducing items going to landfill sites.   Further information can be found here.

Food Plant Solutions - A Solution that Ends Malnutrition & Food Insecurity.  For over 50 years, Bruce French has dedicated himself to gathering and collating science-based information on edible plants from around the world.  Bruce’s efforts culminated in the creation of the world’s most comprehensive database on edible plants, now containing over 35,000 entries.

They are keen for people to join them in transforming food security with nutrient-dense, climate-resilient plants, reshaping communities and nourishing futures worldwide.   Further information can be found here
