The 32nd Annual Charity Golf Day took place on Sunday 10th August at Penwortham Golf Club, in glorious sunshine. If anything it was a bit too warm but gave the golfers another excuse for their scores on the day. This year over 30 Teams of 4 players took part. The competition was as usual split into 3 with a prize for a Sponsored Team, a Non-sponsored Team and a Ladies/Mixed Team.
The winners of the Sponsored Team were Whitfire Shavings & Sawdust with 94 points, consisting of John Bond, Warren Black, Phil Allen and Carl Smith. The Non-sponsored Team winners were Hilary Killen's Team with 95 points and made up of Hiliary, Lynn Smalley Shirley Blundell and Priscilla Burley. The Ladies/Mixed Team was won by Penwortham Lady Captain's Team, with 91 points including the Lady Captain, Edy Sulistio, Jane & Mike Bridge.Teams in the top places in the golf competition, and the winners of nearest the pin and the 2's are on the following pages.
James Hall & Co Ltd (SPAR) again this year provided refreshments, served by Rotarians, for the golfers at the Halfway Hut.
To add to the fund raising the Club organised a raffle and an auction and we wish to extend our thanks to all those who donated prizes, notably FWP Ltd who donated a Corpoarate Experience at PNE for auction.
The Club are eternally grateful to those organisations and individuals who supported the event with team and hole sponsorship
Thanks also need to go to Penwortham Golf Club for hosting the day and especially to the Green Keepers for presenting the course in a near perfect condition, and to PGA Professional Tom Dolan for his support..
Overall the club has raised over £4,000 from the Golf Day and this will be distributed to local, national and international charities.
Everyone said that they had enjoyed the Day and were looking forward to next years Charity Golf Day on 9th August.
