PARTNERS IN EDUCATION IN ESWATINI WAS SWAZILAND

The Club continues to support the charity Partners in Education ESWATINI. Previously we helped part fund the refurbishment of a building in Mbabane, ESWATINI which is used to provide a meal a day for street and other vulnerable children. Pre-school children are also given some basic education.

At that time 45 children were attending the new centre. Since then the demand has increased such that some 95 children are now attending. The majority of the children going to the centre are orphans who, without the centre would have no means of gaining food on a daily basis. As you can see from the latest newsletters over 200 children are currently receiving a meal.

The Club continues to support the centre with a generous donation supporting a bee keeping project which is now producing honey for sale. The spring update shows the real problems being experienced through Covid which has led to growing malnutrition and the Club has made a further substantial donation to ease these issues. The January 2024 newsletter shows better times since Covid but still difficulties with inflation etc, but success in selling honey and produce to support the centres.

Supporting The Salvation Army

The Cost of Living Crisis has placed increased demands on the Salvation Army Food Crisis Centre in Preston and the Club continues to make a £100 monthly contribution.

Supporting The Lancashire Wildlife Trust to improve and maintain Mere Sands Wood

The Club has taken the lead role in managing the Wrap Up Central Lancashire Initiative to collect warm winter coats since 2021. This continues into 2024 with the aim of organising the collection of coats from 14th Oct to 10th Nov.

It's the 30th year of holding the Club's Charity Golf Day. This year's competition was held on Sunday 13th August at the usual venue at Penwortham Golf Course. Yet again a successful day raising over £4,500.
