On 5th of April members and some visitors were treated to a talk by Kevin Jackson the Operations Manager of our local Royal National Lifeboat Institution station. He was accompanied by Collin one of his station colleagues. The brave people who give their services to this organisation do so as volunteers. They can be called out at any time of the day or night in all kinds of weather conditions, more likely than not incredibly ferocious, stormy weather. Lifeboats now are much improved to the first one in the fleet which began operations in 1824. Since then great pioneering developments have contributed to saving many lives at sea but none of these rescues would have been achieved without the selfless courage and bravery of its crews. We owe them a great debt of gratitude.
