LEYLAND KNIT, CROCHET & KNATTER
Leyland Rotary is supporting Leyland Knit, Crochet & Knatter to create handmade items for local hospitals, hospices and community causes by funding the purchase of yarn and materials.
In response to Leyland Rotary's donation, Leyland Knit, Crochet and Knatter said:
"We are incredibly grateful to have received such a generous donation. This support means so much to us, not just as a group but as a community. What started as a place to share skills has grown into something truly special: a welcoming space where friendships are formed, support is shared, and everyone is made to feel they belong.
"This donation will go directly towards purchasing yarn and materials, helping us continue what we do best. With it, we'll be able to create even more handmade items for local hospitals, hospices, charities, and community causes - reaching people at some of the most important and often challenging moments in their lives. Every single penny will be used not only to keep our group thriving, but to ensure that each item we make carries warmth, care, and kindness to those who receive it.

Rotarian Annette visited the group to present a cheque to purchase wool to enable them to create more items for donation or sale to raise funds for the various local charities the members support. The money was as a result of a successful bid to Leyland Rotary's Pitch4Pounds scheme. Monies raised during the Rotary Christmas Santa collections are given to local organisations who have successfully bid through the scheme for funds.
The group comprise c900 members who get together monthly on Saturdays and Wednesdays to knit/crochet together. They produce items such as rainbow blankets for use in St Catherine's Hospice, Preston and Chorley hospitals as well as care homes in the area. They create hearts for St. Catherine's hospice and snowmen for Derian House, plus, gnomes, octopuses, hedgehogs and assorted soft toys for donation or sale to raise funds for the specific charities.
