SPOTLIGHT ON....

FRIENDS OF LEYLAND STATION

President Sue met with Janet from Friends of Leyland Station recently to get an update on how the money donated by Leyland Rotary has been used and what difference it is making to the environs of Leyland Station, and in particular a triangular area adjacent to one of the car park entrances.  This had been a long-neglected area full of weeds and rubble.

Janet explained that the money has been used to purchase topsoil and evergreen and flowering shrubs to plant in the triangle which will improve the bio-diversity of the area, along with a plaque to celebrate 200 years of passenger rail travel which included the inscription "Sponsored by Leyland Rotary".

Lots of positive feedback has been received from the local community and the volunteers from Friends of Leyland Station receive frequent comments from members of the public that the area is now very attractive and has improved the entrance to the car park.

Friends of Leyland Station is a voluntary group which relies on applying for funding for its projects.  Janet pointed out that "this project would not have happened without the support and funding from Leyland Rotary's Pitch4Pounds initiative as we constantly strive to improve the Station environment".
