Infinity Cheer & Dance was set up in 2012 to provide a safe space for children to develop their cheer-leading skills (both physical and emotional) at a rate that suits them, offering classes for pre-school aged athletes and teams from age 5 through to adult.
In addition to their 'mainstream' classes, founder and head coach, Sian Thorley, has developed a successful and industry-leading SEND programme for children and young people with additional needs who require more specific support in coaching and participating in the sport. Infinity currently have four 'Shooting Stars' SEND classes with a total of 52 children in these classes. They also have a further 43 children with additional needs including Autism, ADHD & visual/auditory processing disorder across the full Infinity Cheer and Dance programme.
Leyland Rotary is delighted to have made a donation to contribute to the purchase of a Large Folding Incline Mat which will assist the older children in developing their jumping skills. This piece of equipment has lots of uses for all levels, front and back, standing and running tumbles. Several older, taller Shooting Stars athletes who have difficulties with gross motor skills and processing, will be able to use the larger wedge mat to develop their skills and continue to achieve their goals.
President Jim and Publicity Officer, Lynette, had the privilege of witnessing a coaching session for Infinity’s Shooting Stars and were impressed by the amazing inclusivity demonstrated for children aged 5 upwards with additional physical and/or emotional needs. Infinity believe that cheer is for everyone and teach their athletes to embrace this by developing their self-confidence and self-esteem. The parents of many of the children were keen to talk about the benefits and enjoyment their children derived from involvement with Infinity, and particularly the inclusive environment which prevails throughout the organisation.
