Every year Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland seeks to recognise young people under the age of 25 who have demonstrated positive citizenship, personal achievements, assumed important responsibilities, undertaken community activities or otherwise stood out as exceptional.
Leyland Rotary was delighted to nominate 18 year old EVE PEDLEY of Leyland Barracudas Amateur Swimming Club as a young person who is enabling other members of our community here in Leyland and beyond to participate in swimming. Eve was quick to volunteer to assist with the Swim Academy and has played a key part in the ongoing development of the programme which serves young swimmers aged 5-9, leading sessions as a qualified Level 2 teacher.
Whilst Eve was not the overall winner of the Young Sporting Hero Award, the judges complimented Eve for her admirable and inspirational work at Leyland Barracudas, demonstrating initiative, service, commitment and personal giving.
Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self’ and Eve exemplifies that in the work she continues to do as a volunteer. President Jim Costello of Leyland Rotary was delighted to present Eve with a certificate on behalf of Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland in recognition of the significance of her contribution.
If you know of someone who you think is deserving of similar recognition, please contact Leyland Rotary.
