Good Citizen Award

Encouraging pupils of school age to contribute to hub bub of life.

Ribby-with-Wrea CE Primary

"Always kind and helpful around school"

"Very involved with St. Nicholas Church"

"Very hard-working, polite and well mannered"

Comment from Head: "Thank you so much for these kind gifts to our wonderful pupils".

Kirkham & Wesham Primary - "Gives 100% to everything; kind and generous too"

"An excellent role model; kind to others in his class"

Wesham CE Primary -

"For kindness of heart and friendship to all within our school" (Repeated)

Comment from Head: "Two genuine, thoughtful boys who have helped in so many ways this year. They are the first to offer help and friendship to any other children who are in need".

Freckleton CE Primary:

Comment from Head - "In our anniversary year these four children have represented our school in an exemplary way. Thank you for supporting our 'good citizens' of the future."

Strike Lane Primary

"Always has a smile on her face and nothing is too much trouble"

Kirkham St. Michaels CE Primary

Extremely helpful, caring and polite; super with young children"

Kirkham Grammar Junior School

"Helps look after her very poorly brother - spoke to the whole school about this. Also visits/helps at Pear Tree School each week"

(Note from B.S. - Without wishing to appear biased (!) this is the kind of comment, giving specific examples of service, that I wish other schools would emulate)

Newton Bluecoat CE Primary

"For leading our Charity work in school"

"For always volunteering and being kind and caring"

Comment from Head - "Thank you for your continued donation. The school appreciates it."

Singleton CE Primary

"Raising money for a range of charities, e.g. Brian House"

"Fully participates in community events, such as the Singleton Gala"

Comment from Office Manager (!) "Many thanks for your continued support"

Our two secondary schools don't send their nominations in until nearer their annual prize presentations, so the following are last year's responses:

Carr Hill HS -

"Voluntary work with Barnados"

Kirkham Grammar School

"Significant fund-raising for scoliosis and cystic fibrosis local charity"

Very rarely do I receive any acknowledgement for the recipients of these awards (i.e. the children themselves) but this year the following two came through the post, to which I wrote letters of reply:

1. From a grateful pupil of Newton Bluecoat School:

"Dear Mr. Stacey,

I am writing this letter to say thank you to the Rotary Club for the Citizenship Award I received at the Newton Bluecoat Leavers Service. I am really proud to receive this award."

2. From an appreciative pupil of Treales School:

"Dear Mr. Stacey,

I won the Good Citizens Award at Treales School this year. I would like to thank you for the book token kindly donated by the Rotary Club. I will enjoy choosing a new book with this."
