Southport Steam Rally Weekend 2015

The seventh annual Riverside Steam & Vintage Vehicle Rally will take place on the 25^th/26^th April. Although steam traction engines will be on display, they are only part of a fun day out for all the family

The Rally is a fund raising event organised by five local businessmen, and over 207,000 pounds  has been donated to local charities in the past six years. The organisers are continually striving to introduce new and interesting attractions and this year is no exception. Around 20 full size steam engines will be in steam including many engines not seen in Lancashire before. One engine giving a working demonstration of steam threshing and baling. There will be 500 vintage vehicles in total including, cars, trucks, tractors, motorbikes and military vehicles. An array of Heavy Haulage vehicles of yesteryear are also unique to the Riverside Rally. A vintage fairground, trade stands, food outlets, miniature steam railway, craft tent and other live activities are available to entertain the whole family.

This years event will be dedicated to the memory of William Hunter who passed away last November following a hard fought battle with Leukemia. William was a founder organiser of the Riverside Rally. He was well respected for his impressive collection of vintage trucks and buses. No less than 24 of his immaculately restored vehicles will be on display.

Fred Dibnah was a well known Steam engine owner and his family will be exhibiting his Steam Roller Betsy together with his famous Land Rover. 

A special treat for the petrol heads is the appearance of  Formula 1 cars from bygone days. A raffle to win tickets for the Goodwood Revival will be available on the Formula 1 stand.

As in previous years Aunt Nellies tea room is a place to relax and enjoy the traditions of an old fashioned tea room complete with homemade cakes. Why not enjoy an authentic afternoon tea, with or without Prosecco. Sit back and be entertained with live music from the palm court piano player or the Wigan Ukulele Club, reminding us of the days of George Formby.
