Kirkham Rotary Young photographer of the Year 2015.

Thu, Apr 9th 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

This years theme is "Light up the community." Once again Carr Hill High School at Kirkham have submitted some stunning images.

This year saw seven entries from Carr Hill High School. After careful consideration 3 winners were picked out. The overall winner's images have been put forward to The District Rotary stage of the competition.  There will be a presentation to all three winners at Carr Hill's end of year show. Thank you to every one that took part in this years competition.

Unfortunatley our 1st prize winner Jordon was unsuccessful this year in getting through to the District heat but he will be receiving a prize as will the runners up from Kirkham Rotary. Jordon's certificate of participation is included at the bottom of this page.

In first place was an image by Jordon Bibby.

Jordon wrote "I have chosen these three edited photgrpahs as I feel they represent my community Lytham St. Anne's the best. Also the three images were taken in different parts/area's of St. Anne's.  The way the images represent the community are that they each show different and bright colours and show how creative our community is. That is how my images show represent the theme. "Light up the Community."  The way I edited my images were by use of Photoshop and using its special tools such as colour burn and changing the levels."

In second place was an image by Katie Mangan.

Katie wrote "I took these photographs in Blackpool.  I changed the vibrancies of the photographs to make them appear brighter and more vibrant than they originally were.  I then copied the edit and pasted it three times to create a square panorama.  I then altered the contrast and brightness to bring out the most important parts of the photograph that either appeared too bright or too dark.  I did this for all three of my photographs. My images reflect the theme "Light up the Community" because they show the beautiful landscape and nature that the community has to offer."

In third place was an image by Katie Gunn.

Katie wrote "The images I submitted are all different in their own way.  The one on St. Anne's front and Preston Docks represent lights in the community, even though the atmosphere around them is dead and there are no people around.  The last one represents how having a family can bring light and happiness into your life."
