The speaker at the recent Zoom meeting of Kendal Rotary was Pam Lewis, the deputy CEO of South Lakeland Age UK, who gave a presentation detailing the impact to the charity of the lockdown due to the COVID19 pandemic.
Obviously it has had a massive impact on how the charity operates, particularly in view of the vulnerability of most of their clients who are over the age of 50. The charity supports over 12,000 people every year with 3000 of them with multiple problems.
During the lockdown the following has been achieved; 501 shopping trips, 442 prescriptions delivered, 3348 hearing aid batteries replaced, 5138 calls for support received and much more.
It is a testament to the dedicated staff and volunteers that so much has been, and still is, being achieved.
