Registration

The Team Captain will be our point of contact, and by completing the registration process for this event, you give us consent to contact you with details about this event.  It will be the responsibility of the Team Captain to circulate all information to the rest of the team as necessary.

Furthermore, as the representative of the team, and by completing the registration process, you, the Team Captain, confirm that you have read and understood all the requirements stated herein for this event, and agree to be bound by them.

Safety

Race the Dragon Ltd will provide the boats and the organise the races.  They will have full authority and discretion with regards to the safety aspects of the racing.

All able-bodied crew members must be declared competent in deep water and capable of swimming 50 meters with the aid of an approved personal flotation device (buoyancy aid). Race the Dragon will provide such buoyancy aids for competitors’ use whilst on the water.  Fleetwood Boating Lake is typically c. 4 feet in depth.

Special provision will be made for competitors who register as having special needs. Compliance with this provision is the responsibility of the Team Captain.

All team members must attend a safety briefing before being allowed to race. Final crew members for each race will be at the sole discretion of Race the Dragon Ltd’s appointed Chief Official.  No refunds will be offered for crews competing or entering with less than the prescribed number.

In circumstances where any team member(s) are, in the opinion of any official from Race the Dragon Ltd, suffering from the effects of drugs or excess alcohol, or deliberately trying to capsize the boat or behaving in such a way that could result in either damage to the boats or a danger to the crew, then those officials have the authority to request the Event Director to cancel that team's race time or in more serious cases, disqualify the team member(s) from further participation in the day.

Where such person(s) are disqualified but refuse to leave the crew, it is the responsibility of the Team Captain to remove the disqualified person(s). If the disqualified person(s) still refuses to leave, then the whole team may be disqualified from further participation in the day. No refund will be due to any person/team disqualified and the Event Director's decision is final.

No previous experience of dragon boat racing is necessary to enter this event, and all team members accept that there is an inherent risk with dragon boat racing, and that they will be competing at their own risk.
