Last night we held our local heat of the Young Musician Competition in the Eco Centre at Cockermouth School.
We were treated to a wonderful and varied programme showcasing the students’ musical talent and versatility.
The Judging task was very difficult as the standard was high. The Winner for the Vocal section was Freya Bloomer who sang the title song from The Sound of Music and in contrast Autumn Leaves.
The Instrumental section was won by Isobel Johnson who played Concertina by Singelee and Czardas by Monti on the saxophone.
Freya and Isobel will go forward to The District Final which we are staging in All Saints Primary School on Saturday February 7th.
The Winner of the Composition Prize was Samuel with 'Untamed Galaxy'.
Thanks to the Judges Phil, Wood. Richard Bennett, Wendy Sanders and Jean Lack.
Thanks also to the Students for taking part and the Parents, Supporters and Rotarians who made up a sizeable audience.
Many thanks to Jean Lack, who as Chair of Youth Services organised this event on behalf of the Club.
Last but not least to Patrick Relph, Head of Music for his input and coordination of the programme in what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
